Deb and Rach met on ward M3 of Sheffield Children’s Hospital in 2008. Deb's daughter, Megan and Rach's daughter Lauren were both being treated for cancer and they became very good friends.

Megan completed 18 months of chemotherapy in September 2009 and is continuing to do well.

Sadly Lauren passed away in June 2008 aged 3.

The Once A Sprout book and this website are dedicated to Lu Lu.

Lu Lu was a very special little girl who fought cancer so bravely but sadly lost her battle and passed away on 15th June 2008 aged just 3 years.

Lu Lu's strength was inspirational, her beautiful smile and character touched the hearts of so many people around her.

Lu Lu loved doing sticking & gluing, watching Scooby-Doo dvds and going to the park to feed the ducks.

Lu Lu was a determined little girl, an incredible quality for someone so young and always very happy. She made her parents Jon & Rachel so very proud.

The inspiration for the book came from Lauren & Megan's Outreach nurse, Rachel, who had a sprout mountain at her family-run Coppice House Farm Shop on the edge of the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border.

The 'Once A Sprout' book is available online now from this website for just £5.00 and all proceeds will go to PACT a local charity helping children with cancer based at Sheffield Children’s Hospital.
